"Decathlon has been the most important experience of my life so far. It would be impossible to accurately describe the impact it has had on me personally. Before being on my school’s Deca team, I was incredibly unsure of myself socially, and had very little confidence in myself, my personality, and my skills. Being part of Decathlon completely changed the way I saw myself. I became happier and made more friends, and understood my importance as a person. A very very large part of this impact is due to the encouragement and support of my coaches, who were each very strong role models to me who I knew I could always rely on. I will always remember my time in Decathlon fondly, and honestly wish there was a way to continue it! Most of all I miss being part of the team, and I’m still thankful to Decathlon for helping me become someone I am proud to be. "

"Academic Decathlon challenged me to learn about multiple subject areas that I would never have been exposed to in the normal school curriculum. On top of this, Academic Decathlon pushed me to learn how to study, and to get over my difficult struggles in areas I used to be uncomfortable with. In regards to speech and interview specifically, Academic Decathlon taught me to be comfortable presenting information about myself in a coherent and concise manner. Finally, with regards to the science subject, Academic Decathlon inspired me to continue studying astronomy, which has become a passion of mine."

"Academic Decathlon has taught me the importance of time management skills, teamwork, and taking on challenges. Once upon a time I would have been afraid to step in front of anyone and talk, let alone give a speech and have an interview. But now I am confident of my capabilities and ready to take on almost anything life hurdles at me in college and afterwards. I am grateful to have been part of an enriching program and lighthearted team."
